The Antiche Pietre B&B is located in Bollengo, perched atop a hill of the Serra Morenica, offering a panoramic setting surrounded by greenery. Nestled among vineyards and fruit trees—including figs, apple trees, plum trees, hazelnuts, and kiwis—the property provides a peaceful and well-maintained environment, perfect for those wishing to spend a few days close to nature without giving up the convenience of nearby main attractions in the Canavese area.
The B&B features three double rooms, each equipped with independent air conditioning. Outside, guests can enjoy a spacious garden with a barbecue and a charming terrace overlooking the Anfiteatro Morenico valley, with views of Bollengo Castle and, in the distance, Lake Viverone.
Breakfast is one of the highlights of the stay, offering a wide selection of products including fresh fruit, jams, pastries, local cold cuts, and cheeses. The warm, family-like atmosphere and the host’s hospitality accompany guests throughout their visit, with special attention to individual needs.
The name of the B&B reflects one of its most distinctive features: ancient stones and minerals are preserved within the premises, showcasing the passion and effort of those who contributed over time to creating this place. The B&B is suitable for both leisure and business travelers, as well as enthusiasts of cycling, trekking, nature, history, and ancient castles.
The property is situated along the Via Francigena route, and guests can request a stamp on their pilgrim credentials. Nearby, visitors will find the Romanesque bell tower of San Martino, dating back to the 12th century and locally known as “Ciucarun,” as well as the medieval village of Piverone.
A little further on is Lake Viverone, which is suitable for swimming and popular among water sports enthusiasts. The lake also preserves an important prehistoric pile-dwelling archaeological site, inscribed in 2011 as part of the Alpine Arc UNESCO World Heritage sites. Thousands of wooden piles belonging to an ancient Bronze Age village have been found on the lakebed, while numerous artifacts recovered during research campaigns are now housed in museums in Ivrea, Biella, and Turin.
About 12 km away is Masino Castle, famous for its many frescoed rooms and historic labyrinth. The region also offers many excursion opportunities to Ivrea and its renowned Historical Carnival, Valchiusella, Gran Paradiso National Park, Fort Bard, the Sanctuary of Oropa, the Sanctuary of Graglia, the Ricetto of Candelo, the Zegna Oasis, Burcina Park with azaleas and rhododendrons, and the Candia Lake Natural Park. The Royal Palace of Venaria Reale, Vercelli, and Novara, as well as golf courses and numerous natural and cultural trails, are also easily accessible.
Starting in October, upon reservation and subject to availability, guests can use an authentic wood-fired Russian sauna (banja) for an additional fee, approximately 15 euros per person, to be arranged directly with the property.
The B&B can be reached from Bollengo’s historic center by following Via Montebello and then Via Castello up to the hilltop. Cars, SUVs, and short-wheelbase vans can access the property directly; for vehicles longer than 5 meters, an alternative route via Via Burolo is available, partly paved and then unpaved. The path is marked with signs, and free parking is provided upon arrival.
Pets are allowed by prior arrangement at the time of booking, with an extra charge of 15 euros per day per animal, payable on site at check-out.
A sweet and savory continental breakfast is offered in the breakfast room. Freshly baked brioche, Moka coffee, organic jams, seasonal cheeses, and fresh cold cuts are available, along with seasonal fruit (we grow kiwis and strawberries). Fresh bread is also provided. Freshly squeezed orange juice is available upon request for an additional charge.
