We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Affittacamere Il Cactus. Mario and Carla were kind, generous, and made us feel very welcome. Mario's communication was excellent both before and during our visit. He was quick to answer any questions, and he and Carla made great efforts to make our stay comfortable. Mario also recommended a good place to get breakfast and coffee nearby. We appreciated being able to borrow bicycles to tour Lucca, and Mario was kind enough to let us use them even after check-out. The historic city centre is a quick, easy walk or bike ride from the Affittacamere Il Cactus. We also enjoyed a wine in the garden (although mosquito repellant is recommended). The room and bathroom were a good size, and access was easy. I agree with the other reviews that sound insulation isn't amazing (at least between the front room and the house), but Mario and Carla are not noisy people, so it's a minor thing. The street wasn't very noisy. Mario's use of a translating device made it easy for all of us to communicate. We would gladly stay at the Affittacamere Il Cactus again. Maybe next time we can give ourselves more time to use the hammock, complete with its own electric fan!

This affordable guesthouse is conveniently close to the city center. It wasn't 100% soundproof to traffic and noises from the main house but the host was pleasant, the facilities were clean and we enjoyed our stay.

Nice style house, special because of the cactus history. Very friendly people. Very clean overall and also good hygiene. There was no breakfast, but the excellent tip to have it in Lucca pleased us very much because we had a real Italian-style breakfast. The price for that was very reasonable.\n\nWhat was also special was that the surroundings were so quiet at night. My wife is usually a poor sleeper due to all the sounds around our own house in the Netherlands, but she slept very well here!\nOn the other corner of the street, there was a very good pizza restaurant with quality pizzas from a wood-fired oven, MMMMMMM… we ate there 3 times…\nSo if you are a couple and want to go to Lucca and also want to try this Lucca breakfast in town, you can definitely go for it. Have a nice stay there!

Lovely room with doors onto garden, with table and chairs provided. No air conditioning but good fan. Spotless bathroom, good shower. Comfy bed, nice pillows. Ten minutes walk into the city. Three minutes walk to pasticceria Scilla for breakfast, also shops for fruit etc.\n\nDelightful host; collected us from the bus station and offered to drop us to the train station but we wanted to walk around the city walls (20 minutes stroll).

Everything was perfect. Beautiful large room, very clean. Excellent bedding. Pleasant garden. It is located in an area close to the historic center and also very close to grocery stores. The owner came to pick me up at the station and then took me back when I left. There are bicycles available for customers for free. Everything is done to make the stay a pure moment of happiness. I was very touched by the kindness of the owners. They are admirable people. I want to thank them warmly.

Our stay with Mario and his wife was wonderful! Both were very helpful and warm. The room and bathroom were very clean and everything needed was available. Parking was available in front of the house. We can only recommend the Affittacamere Il Cactus!

We stayed for three nights in Lucca with Mario and Carla and we really enjoyed it. The location is great. You can quickly reach the old town and it's also close to the river, where we rode along with the bikes borrowed from Mario and Carla. We felt very comfortable there, and Mario and Carla are very warm people. Even though we don't speak Italian, communication went well. Thank you!

We were completely satisfied, great location to the old town, good price. Very friendly and helpful landlords, who gave us great tips for the city and other excursions. Despite our lack of knowledge of the Italian language, the landlords were always striving for good communication. We laughed a lot together.

The Cactus is a simple, essential, very clean, economical, and very convenient place to stay while visiting the city without the need to use a car. The walls enclosing the city center can be reached in a few minutes. The manager, Mr. Mario, and his sweet wife are very kind and hospitable people, they gave us many useful pieces of information and ensured the good progress of our stay. The structure is really very welcoming and spotless. It is located a few steps from the historic center of Lucca and is easily reachable on foot or by the bicycles that the managers provide for free. The room where I stayed is spacious and very clean, with everything needed for a pleasant stay (including a mini fridge with water and tea greatly appreciated). Large bathroom with shower and brand new sanitary ware. Great location, with ample parking possibilities, a few minutes' walk from the walls of Lucca. Excellent value for money! Very kind and helpful owners, to the point that you feel right at home. Beautiful and well-kept little garden, with a table and chairs, definitely to be enjoyed in good weather. Absolutely recommended for visiting the beautiful Lucca!

The apartment is just outside the walls, in a very convenient location. It is a quiet area composed of small villas and small buildings, really very pleasant. The choice of independent entrance, from the garden, for each of the two rooms is really beautiful. The rooms are recently built, with the spaces optimally utilized. The bathroom is spacious, with a very generous-sized shower, a real pleasure at the end of the day. The furniture is simple and clean, creating a very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. The garden, for common use of the two rooms, is very nice, well equipped and carefully maintained with great attention. The homeowners are two splendid people, available, very polite and extremely kind, but not at all intrusive. They made us feel at home, both to us and to our little dog, to whom they gave many cuddles. What can I say, this place will become a fixed reference point for us in this area.

Stayed for only one night, unfortunately. We would have gladly stayed for a few more days because Lucca is really worth it. We had a great time at Mr. Mario's property. It's just a few minutes' walk from the center, in a very quiet area. Cleanliness, comfort, and top-notch hospitality. We will definitely come back and I will also recommend it to my friends. Spacious, clean room, even the outdoor space is well-kept. Easy to find, with a short walk you are already in the center. The owners of the B&B were very sweet, kind, and helpful. The room was impeccably clean, the bedroom is very nice, and the bathroom is quite large. The B&B is not in the city center, but it is easily reachable on foot or by bike.

Stayed for only one night unfortunately, because Lucca deserves it and an extra day would have been perfect. Room with independent entrance, with everything necessary, clean and tidy, spacious bathroom. It was very cold those days, but the room is well insulated and very comfortable. Carla and Mario are two very kind and helpful people. The guesthouse is located 10 m on foot from Porta San Donato, it takes two bike pedals. I definitely recommend it!

Direct entrance to the room and then there is the essential bathroom without frills. Excellent value for money (having seen other prices). The area was great for me, 800 meters from where I had a course and very close to Porta San Donato, so much so that I walked to the city. Coming back to the Affittacamere Il Cactus, the bathroom is very nice, spacious and with a shower larger than mine at home. In the room, there is everything: wardrobe, bedside tables, and various drawers (which I didn't use for two nights). The mattress is softer than what I am used to and the pillows are low, but everyone has their own preferences. The owners' apartment is adjacent (there is a closed door), so I would avoid it if I were someone who makes noise late at night. The staff are very kind and always available, there is wifi, television, and everything you need in a room. In fact, I have already booked the room for the next course.

A friend and I stayed at Affittacamere Il Cactus for 2 days and we had a great time, the value for money is excellent and the managers are very kind and always available for anything. We were also provided with two bicycles to explore the city comfortably, whose walls are 5 minutes away from the property. We found the room clean and tidy as well as the bathroom. We stayed for three nights in this small villa located in a quiet area of Lucca, a few hundred meters from Porta San Donato, one of the access points to the city's historic center. The room was spacious and comfortable, with an independent entrance that opened onto a beautiful sunny garden; the bathroom was large and well maintained. The cleanliness of the rooms was very accurate. However, the highlight are the two hosts, Carla and Mario, extremely kind and very helpful (my husband had a calf problem and they helped us and provided us with ice at all hours. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!) As mentioned by other guests, the property does not offer breakfast, but there are great cafes in the area to try. We recommend it. Giovanni and Anna. P. S. Clean rooms and courteous and very helpful owners are the business card of this B&B a stone's throw from the city walls of Lucca, easily reachable on foot or with the bicycles kindly provided by the owners. With keys in hand, we could access our room directly through the little garden that also offered a hammock, table, and chairs sheltered by a large umbrella, all in complete autonomy being able to park comfortably on the street next to the entrance. Breakfast is not provided but a great pastry shop at a good price is a short walk away. Definitely recommendable.

I confirm what has been written in other reviews: spacious and very clean room and bathroom, autonomous and direct access from the garden, strategic location for visiting the city (5 minutes walk from the walls). Splendid hosts: kind and welcoming, they make you feel immediately at home. Bikes available for the entire duration of the stay. Brochures and tourist information already prepared for you in the room. Excellent croissants and cappuccino from the nearby pastry shop: with 6 euros we had breakfast for three. We felt much better here than in the 4-star hotel in Pisa where we had stayed previously. If I return to Lucca, it will be my first choice. As if all this were not enough, the hosts also gave me a bottle of wine when leaving: what more could you wish for?
