Charming Lucca

I had a lovely time and highly recommend Charming Lucca. The property is beautiful and within walking distance from the station. The host was amazing, kind and helpful.

We loved our stay in Lucca. It was quiet and the room was lovely. Paola is the friendliest and most helpful host.

Overall it was fine. There were a couple of oddities: she cleaned our room and left the door open while we were out for the day. The breakfast on the first day was continental, but on the following days it became progressively worse.

Classic, nice and functional bed and breakfast. The location is very pleasant: it feels like you are out in the countryside, while the city center and train station are still conveniently accessible. It's right next to the beautiful aqueduct, along which a walking and cycling path leads straight to the train station and, beyond that, the historical city center.

I enjoyed my stay and the host was very helpful. Breakfast was good, especially the coffee. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to enjoy Lucca.

Lovely, friendly and helpful host. Good situation for walking into Lucca. Comfortable, quiet room. The breakfast was rather commercial and pre-packaged, but a generous bonus if you're used to Italian breakfasts.

Lovely peaceful retreat just outside Lucca close to brick and stone aqueduct. Welcoming and helpful host. Good restaurants walking distance. Great experience.

If I could give the owner 11/10 I would. She was truly amazing. Everything was made so easy for us. The location itself is a little far from the center, but still in walking distance. Would definitely visit again.

The host is very cordial and the house is excellent. Good room and breakfast. I enjoyed this stop away from the hustle and bustle of Lucca, like in the countryside! I recommend this accommodation.

Very charming hostess, gave good tips. 20 minutes walk to Lucca, which is a very beautiful city. It was perfect for us.

Upon arrival at the B&B, it felt like being in a camp for displaced people. At check-in the lady greeted us with two large dogs, like Maremmano type, which had not been mentioned, but they did not bother us. Outside there were drying racks with towels and sheets hanging. Shoes were drying on a small table. A look at the aerial photos on Google already shows the exterior of the property. At check-in the owner kindly photographed our documents and requested payment in cash, including the tourist tax, without giving a receipt. She insisted that at that price she accepts only cash. The entry and payment were made at the round table in a small kitchen. She then took us to the room. To reach the room we took a staircase whose under-stairs area was full of all sorts of things and there was a screen behind which sheets and towels were stored. We went up to the room and immediately went down to go to Viareggio; the lady gave us some helpful directions, which was appreciated. We returned after dinner. The entrance to the property was through the same kitchen door. We went up. We noticed that someone had entered the room to close the window shutters. When we opened the bed, the sheets were full of hairs, hopefully cat hairs because they were black like the courtyard cat. They were stained (we hope with rust) and not ironed. The pillows had multiple pillowcases inside, full of yellow rings and stains. Given the late hour we slept on our own beach towels brought from home for safety, but it was time to return home. We placed them on the pillow and to cover the underside of the sheet. After going to the bathroom and showering we realized that liquid was coming from the toilet, hopefully only when flushing, because water was coming from under the rim. The water was hot and we had a small heater available for the bathroom. The room was sufficiently heated. After our arrival, other people arrived in the room above us and, unfortunately because of the old floors, we heard every unpleasant movement until almost 2 a.m. In addition, the other guests, probably in the dark because the light switch was hard to find, mistakenly tried to open our room. It was also difficult for us to find the switch and we used the phone light. The night was restless. In the morning we woke up to the smell of coffee. We opened the room door and luckily put on our jackets because it was cold. Breakfast took place in the kitchen where we had checked in and we ate at the table with another couple of guests. The lady provided a packaged snack, coffee in a thermos, warmed some milk at my request and boiled water for a chamomile. When she took the cup to fill it with hot water she noticed it was dirty and said so out loud; she emptied the water initially poured into the sink and then refilled the same cup. On the breakfast table there were also packaged puff pastries, yogurt and bananas. Everything was on the table which was set for six breakfasts. We ate as four and we were not from the same room. The rating is one because I cannot give zero.

I was very cold and even got sick because I couldn't turn on the split at night. The response was that, being automatic, I couldn't switch on the heating at my convenience at night; the split remained switched off.

Excellent welcome. The hosts were very kind. Everything was very nice, with perfect rooms and breakfast. The location is ideal for visiting the city on foot.

Away from the hustle and bustle, ideal for sleeping peacefully.

Strategic location, excellent host. Everything as expected. Good base for visiting the surrounding area.

Very nice and welcoming. It is well managed and Paolo pays a lot of attention to his guests. I recommend it. It's worth trying.

The structure is comfortable and located in a strategic place. Excellent value for money. Strong point: the included breakfast and the coffee already waiting for us.

The lady who welcomed us was very kind, the place is just outside the walls so it's very convenient for a stay in Lucca. Unfortunately, the room we slept in needed a general cleaning, especially from the dust. The breakfast offered was not the best, I would suggest better overall organization, from the food to the management of the service. The stay in Lucca was nonetheless pleasant.

Wonderful experience. Very friendly and helpful host, rustic but charming accommodation, equipped with all comforts but with an added bucolic beauty. Meticulous cleaning, excellent spaces, outdoor areas available, equipped for breakfast or snacks immersed in the greenery. Excellent value for money. Just a few minutes from the center, both on foot and by car.

She, a "charming" Paola, is worth the whole stay. Thank you Paola.

Strategic. A stone's throw from the center but surrounded by nature, 10 minutes walk under an ancient aqueduct and you are at the walls. Cool, clean, quiet. With a mosquito net on the window the room would have been perfect. Very kind and caring host. Breakfast can be improved.

Strategic location to reach the city of Lucca. Quiet residential area. Last stretch of road to reach the B&B is unpaved. Paola, who manages, is kind and very helpful. The rooms are nice but the window of one of them didn't close easily and mosquitoes came in. The other room had a lot of noise, including that of the highway. We didn't sleep very well. The downside was the breakfast. Limited choice, all packaged, only one type of jam. The second day we had a coffee and then went to a pastry shop. An extra point for the wandering cats. Obviously, if you love them.

Simple but functional rooms. The location is definitely clean thanks to the meticulousness of the owner, who is also kind and helpful.

Very characteristic and romantic structure immersed in the greenery in a quiet and easily accessible location. The room was very warm; however, it was equipped with a fan. The bathroom, although private, was separate from the room and was equipped with towels. Additionally, the structure does not have an elevator. The breakfast is essential. The manager is very friendly and smiling, ready to meet every need.

I had booked a room for the Robbie Williams concert, but the evening I arrived they told me that due to a misunderstanding between the owner and her daughter, the room had been given to others. They offered me a horrible attic room with dirty carpets, no windows, and an opening on the roof held open by a piece of polystyrene. After the concert, I packed my things and left. The owner was sorry and had promised to refund me, but she didn't. AVOID ABSOLUTELY. They take advantage of the fact that once you arrive, you have no way to change accommodation.
