Podere Le Serre is an organic agriturismo nestled in the pristine greenery of the Maremma hills, close to Roccalbegna, a charming medieval village in the Grosseto province. Surrounded by 10 hectares of olive groves, orchards, forests, and Mediterranean scrub, this carefully restored Tuscan farmhouse provides a peaceful retreat, perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the nature, culture, and traditions of southern Tuscany.
The property features cozy rooms furnished with handcrafted wooden furniture and authentic touches such as exposed chestnut beams and wooden shutters, which evoke the allure of Tuscan tradition. The beds, equipped with high-quality, comfortable mattresses, ensure excellent rest. Every window opens up to natural vistas, offering glimpses of unspoiled hills and woodlands.
Guests can unwind in spacious common areas, including a living room with a travertine fireplace, a relaxation room with armchairs, and a small library filled with books and guides about the area. The dining room and porches provide opportunities to enjoy breakfasts and dinners made with local, organic ingredients, which can also be savored outdoors amidst the tranquility of the garden. In autumn, the menus feature specialties made with chestnuts from Amiata, complemented by tastings of wines, cured meats, and cheeses.
For those who enjoy creative activities, Podere Le Serre offers cooking, drawing, and writing classes, along with workshops dedicated to local culinary traditions. Nature enthusiasts can explore the property, observing the aquatic flora and fauna in the ponds or spotting wildlife such as deer, foxes, and wild boars. The proximity to natural parks, like the WWF Oasis and the Rocconi Reserve, provides additional opportunities for hiking and adventures.
The surrounding area offers a wide range of activities: trekking and skiing on Monte Amiata, visits to medieval villages, art cities like Siena and Florence, and relaxing days at the thermal baths or on the beaches of the Tyrrhenian coast. Among the most captivating attractions are the hermitage of San Galgano with the "sword in the stone," the Abbey of Monte Oliveto, and the wine cellars of Montalcino.
At Podere Le Serre, every detail is designed to provide tranquility, privacy, and an authentic experience of the Maremma, blending nature, culture, and gastronomy for an unforgettable stay.
Our breakfast is served at the large and small tables of the dining room, or depending on the season, at the large and small tables of the spacious porch in the garden; it is a moment of great tranquility, during which it is possible to ask for and receive advice on how to best organize excursions, visits, and daily activities.
In addition to hot and cold drinks - coffee, milk, tea, fruit juices - we offer our guests local products such as Tuscan cake, bread from the local bakery, and jams from our orchard.
The milk is from the Maremma Breeders Consortium, as well as the butter, and the bread is the traditional "sciapo" bread from the Roccalbegna bakery.
If the orchard rewards us generously for our efforts, we also serve our own fruit.
If there are guests with allergy or intolerance problems, we ask them to let us know what they should avoid and we organize alternative preparations.
Similarly, for dinners, we also prepare vegetarian dishes upon request.
